What's Happening?
The development team behind the game Pickmon has announced a name change to Pickmos. This decision was made to better align with the game's brand identity and lore. Initially announced in March by Networkgo and PocketGame for the Nintendo Switch, Pickmon drew
inspiration from popular games like Pokemon and Palworld. The name change, although minor, is intended to reflect a more comprehensive ecosystem and a grander cosmos, as stated by the developers. Despite the change, the creatures within the game will continue to be known as Pickmon. The game is set to be released on the Nintendo Switch in the future.
Why It's Important?
The rebranding of Pickmon to Pickmos is significant as it highlights the importance of brand identity in the gaming industry. By differentiating itself from established franchises like Pokemon, the developers aim to create a unique identity that resonates with players and stands out in a competitive market. This move also underscores the strategic considerations that game developers must make to avoid potential legal issues related to trademark similarities. The rebranding could potentially attract a broader audience by emphasizing the game's unique features and narrative.
