Elizabeth 'Betty' McCaleb Johnston passed away on June 7, 2026. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1925, Betty was a dedicated educator and community member. She graduated from Vanderbilt University and pursued further studies at the University of Houston
and Sam Houston University. Betty worked as a school librarian in Baytown, Texas, for over thirty years. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Huntsville and later to Evans, Georgia, where she continued her community involvement by chairing the library committee at Brandon Wilde Life Care Community for a decade. Betty is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The family plans to hold a celebration of her life at a later date and requests donations to Covenant Presbyterian Church in her memory.
