What's Happening?
Lockheed Martin has joined the BCR Cyber Strategic Industry Partner Consortium to enhance workforce development in cybersecurity. BCR Cyber, a provider of cyber training and employment services, has launched the Cyber Workforce Accelerator (CWA) Workforce Development
Program, funded by the Maryland Department of Labor. This program aims to train 1,100 Maryland residents at no cost, focusing on skills needed for the cybersecurity industry. Lockheed Martin's involvement will help shape the curriculum, ensuring it aligns with industry standards and workforce demands. The consortium, comprising over 40 organizations, provides strategic guidance to BCR Cyber's training programs, which include the Security Operations Center Operations Analyst I Training and Certification.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between Lockheed Martin and BCR Cyber is crucial in addressing the cybersecurity talent shortage in Maryland and beyond. By contributing its expertise, Lockheed Martin helps ensure that training programs are relevant and job-focused, preparing participants for real-world cybersecurity challenges. This initiative not only supports workforce development but also strengthens the cybersecurity industry by creating a pipeline of skilled professionals. As cyber threats continue to evolve, having a well-trained workforce is essential for protecting critical infrastructure and maintaining national security.
