What's Happening?
France TV Distribution is introducing a new costume drama-thriller titled 'Sorority' at the London TV Screenings. The series, set in 1889 Paris, follows the story of three women from different backgrounds—a wet nurse, a midwife, and a grieving mother—who unite to navigate a male-dominated society. The show stars Lula Cotton-Frapier and is co-written by Alexandra Echkenazi and Vincent Robert. Directed by Savina Dellicour and Vania Leturcq, 'Sorority' is a six-part series produced by Lincoln TV for France TV, with co-production from La Compagnie Cinématographique and Panache Productions.
Why It's Important?
'Sorority' offers a narrative that highlights the challenges faced by women in a historical context, reflecting ongoing discussions about gender equality and women's
rights. By showcasing the struggles and resilience of its female characters, the series may resonate with contemporary audiences and contribute to the broader discourse on gender roles. The production also underscores the strength of France's television industry in creating compelling period dramas, potentially influencing international perceptions of French media.
