What's Happening?
Sir Anthony Hopkins has purchased the former Los Angeles residence of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell for $13 million. The 88-year-old Oscar-winning actor acquired the property from real estate developers
Bob and Margie Champion. This acquisition comes after Hopkins lost his previous home in the Palisades inferno in January 2025. The newly acquired estate, also located in the Palisades, spans nearly 6,400 square feet and includes five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The home is noted for its privacy and classic Los Angeles architecture, featuring a vine-covered entry, formal living and dining rooms, hardwood floors, crown moldings, multiple fireplaces, a temperature-controlled wine tasting room, and a chef’s kitchen. Hawn and Russell originally purchased the home in 2004 for $4.124 million and sold it in 2017 for $6.9 million.
Why It's Important?
This real estate transaction highlights the ongoing interest in high-profile properties in Los Angeles, particularly those with historical significance and privacy. For Hopkins, this purchase represents a return to stability after the loss of his previous home. The acquisition underscores the demand for luxury homes in the Palisades, a region known for its exclusivity and appeal to celebrities seeking privacy. The sale also reflects the broader real estate trends in Los Angeles, where properties associated with famous personalities often command premium prices. This transaction may influence future real estate dealings in the area, as it reinforces the value of properties with celebrity provenance.
What's Next?
Following this purchase, it is likely that Hopkins will settle into his new residence, continuing his preference for privacy and architectural integrity. The real estate market in Los Angeles may see increased interest in similar properties, as buyers look for homes with historical and celebrity connections. Real estate agents and developers might capitalize on this trend by highlighting the unique histories of properties to attract high-profile buyers. Additionally, the sale could prompt other celebrities to consider selling or purchasing homes in the area, potentially leading to more high-value transactions in the Palisades.
