What's Happening?
James Bush has been appointed to lead the Northern masterplanning and urban design team at Marrons, a multidisciplinary development consultancy. Bush, along with Billy Burgess, Matthew Howard, and Georgia Gray, all of whom have joined from Stantec, will
be based at Cubo in No1 Spinningfields, Manchester. The team will work alongside planning associate director Max Kidd-Rossiter. Bush brings over a decade of experience in masterplanning and urban design, having held senior positions at Pegasus Group, Brown & Co, and PRP. The Manchester office will serve as a launch pad for Marrons' operations in the North West, aiming to combine strong design thinking with commercial awareness to deliver residential and mixed-use schemes.
Why It's Important?
The appointment of James Bush and his team is a strategic move for Marrons as it seeks to expand its presence in the North of England. This expansion is significant for the consultancy's growth strategy, allowing it to better support clients across the region. The team's expertise in planning and urban design positions Marrons to shape sustainable, high-quality developments, which is crucial in addressing the evolving needs of communities and clients. This move also reflects the growing demand for urban development and planning services in the North, highlighting Manchester's role as a key hub for such activities.
What's Next?
Marrons plans to leverage its new Manchester base to accelerate its growth in the North. The team will focus on delivering projects from early concept through to delivery, creating innovative, context-driven places. The expansion into Manchester is part of a broader strategy that includes offices in Leeds and Sheffield, with the Northern offer led by planning partner Dan Mitchell. The company aims to enhance its service offerings, which include architecture, transport planning, and socio-economic advisory, to meet the diverse needs of its clients.
