What's Happening?
The Adani Group has announced plans to commence work on a Rs 70,000 crore integrated coal gasification and downstream derivatives plant at Linga in Kalmeshwar near Nagpur. This project is part of the company's clean energy initiatives and is expected to create 30,000 jobs. Jeet Adani, director of Adani Defence and Aerospace, stated that the project aims to develop advanced chemical manufacturing capabilities and reduce import dependence for critical industrial inputs. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) will acquire around 400 acres of land for the project. The plant will produce syngas, ammonia, and hydrogen, contributing to national self-reliance and placing Nagpur on the global map of clean-energy-linked industrial technologies.
