What's Happening?
GKN Aerospace has launched the TITAN-AM program in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. This $8.4 million initiative aims to advance Laser Metal Deposition with Wire (LMD-w) technology for aerospace applications. The program focuses
on industrializing LMD-w processes for large-scale titanium components, developing material datasets, and enhancing simulation capabilities. It also includes the development of inspection techniques specific to additive manufacturing. The program will be conducted at GKN Aerospace's Global Technology Centre in Fort Worth, Texas.
