What's Happening?
Manchester Airport is reimagining its iconic chandeliers from Terminal 1 as part of a £1.3 billion redevelopment of Terminal 2. The chandeliers, originally installed in the 1960s and removed in the 1990s, are being transformed into a new installation
called 'Atmospheric Reflections of the North.' This project involves collaboration with artist Liam Hopkins and students from the Manchester School of Architecture. The installation features 517 pieces, including colorful parachutes and glass droplets from the original chandeliers, creating a dynamic light display that reflects the North's industrial heritage and weather.
