X-Bow Systems has been awarded a $12.2 million contract by defense firm AEVEX to produce rocket-assisted take-off (RATO) kits for the AEVEX Disruptor drone. The contract involves the delivery of hundreds of RATO production kits and thousands of solid
rocket motors (SRMs) and components, scheduled from March to August 2026. The RATO system, developed by X-Bow, includes solid rocket motors and launch cradles, enabling drones to launch from unprepared surfaces and confined locations. This contract marks the first large-scale use of X-Bow's patented Additive Manufactured Solid Propellant (AMSP) in its SRMs, which aims to enhance performance and cost-effectiveness. X-Bow's CEO, Jason Hundley, emphasized the company's ability to rapidly transition from contract award to fielded combat capability, meeting urgent defense needs.
