What's Happening?
Cypress Creek Energy has successfully closed $3.5 billion in financing for the first two phases of the Steel River Energy Center in Arkansas. This project, which is one of the largest solar+storage builds in the United States, will feature 1.63 GW of solar power
and 1.9 GWh of battery energy storage upon completion of these phases. The entire project, expected to be completed by 2029, will ultimately provide 2.45 GW of solar power and 2.9 GWh of battery storage. The financing was underwritten by major financial institutions including Barclays, BNP Paribas, Santander, and Wells Fargo. The project emphasizes the use of American-made materials, with solar panels supplied by First Solar and structural steel sourced from Mississippi County, Arkansas. It is anticipated to create approximately 700 construction jobs.
