What's Happening?
Sallaum Lines has expanded its fleet with the delivery of two new Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator. These vessels, built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard and registered under the Cyprus flag, are part of the company's
Ocean Class fleet. They offer a cargo capacity of 7,400 CEU across 13 decks and are equipped with LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems, enhancing their environmental performance. The delivery marks a significant milestone in Sallaum Lines' fleet expansion program, aimed at meeting the growing demand for its services and supporting global trade patterns.
Why It's Important?
The addition of these vessels strengthens Sallaum Lines' ability to support evolving global trade patterns, particularly in the China-Europe corridor. The increased capacity and flexibility provided by these ships will enhance service reliability and customer satisfaction. The use of LNG dual-fuel systems aligns with global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the shipping industry, reflecting Sallaum Lines' commitment to sustainable operations. This expansion is crucial for maintaining competitiveness in the RoRo shipping sector, where demand often exceeds available capacity.
What's Next?
Following the delivery, the MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator will enter commercial service, supporting Sallaum Lines' global RoRo network. The company plans to launch a dedicated China-Europe service in 2027, leveraging the new vessels' capabilities. This strategic move is expected to strengthen Sallaum Lines' position in the international shipping market and support its long-term sustainability objectives. The company will continue to invest in modern assets and infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of global trade.
