What's Happening?
Airbus has announced the launch of its Airspace cabin product on the A220 aircraft, with Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Qantas as the initial carriers. This development was revealed during the Aircraft Interiors
Expo in Hamburg. The Airspace cabin is designed to enhance passenger comfort and reduce maintenance through simpler mechanisms. The Airspace XL overhead bins will offer 20% more volume and 10% more payload capacity. This launch completes the rollout of the Airspace configuration across the entire Airbus range, following its introduction on the A350 with Qatar Airways in 2014, the A330neo with TAP in 2018, and the A320neo with JetBlue Airways in 2021. The new cabin will be available for retrofit on the existing A220 fleet at a later date.
