OCI Energy and CPS Energy have commenced construction on the Alamo City Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near San Antonio, Texas. This project, celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 19, marks the transition from development to construction.
The Alamo City BESS is set to be one of the largest standalone battery energy storage systems in the region, designed to enhance the reliability of electricity supply during peak demand periods. The facility will have a capacity of 120 MW/480 MWh, capable of providing power for up to four hours. OCI Energy is responsible for the development and financing of the project, while CPS Energy will manage its operations under a long-term storage capacity agreement.
