What's Happening?
Berg Propulsion has been contracted to supply propulsion and control systems for four diesel-electric firefighting offshore support tugs, marking a significant achievement in Turkey. These vessels, ordered by Smit Lamnalco and built by Uzmar Shipyard,
will be the most powerful of their kind in the country, featuring bollard pull capacities exceeding 130 tonnes. The tugs are designed by Canadian naval architect Robert Allan Limited and will initially operate in French Guyana. Berg's equipment delivery for the first vessel is scheduled for November 2026, with the final delivery by July 2027. This project highlights Berg's growing presence in Turkey as a hub for innovative tug construction.
