Atherstone Sports Club has been awarded over £1 million to install a 3G artificial pitch, with funding sourced from the Premier League, Football Association, and the government's Football Foundation, alongside
£327,000 from North Warwickshire Borough Council. The project, facilitated by a 30-year lease on council-owned land, aims to replace one of the club's grass pitches with an all-weather surface. Sarah Carmody, the club's secretary, highlighted the lack of all-weather pitches in the area as a key reason for seeking the funding, noting that winter training on grass is often challenging. Steve Matthews, chair of Atherstone Rangers Junior Football Club, emphasized the new pitch's potential to keep children engaged in sports during wet weather conditions. The installation is set to begin at the end of January and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
