Sourcebooks has announced a collaboration with Lavaille Lavette, an author and social impact strategist, to launch a new children's imprint called Joyful Pen Books. This imprint will focus on inclusive stories aimed at empowering young readers. The collection
will feature picture books, graphic stories, and series written by athletes, innovators, and cultural figures. Jennifer Gonzalez, SVP and children's publisher at Sourcebooks, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Lavette's passion for storytelling and commitment to equity. The imprint's fall launch will include the 'Terysa Solves It' series by Terysa Ridgeway, a Google program manager, and other works by notable figures such as civil rights attorney Ben Crump and NFL player Micah Parsons.
