Peterson has been with Securian Financial since 1990, starting as an actuary and advancing through various roles focused on retirement plan product development, risk management, and investment-related fiduciary issues. He holds
a bachelor's degree in statistics from Montana State University and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Chartered Financial Analyst, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
