Navantia UK has announced a significant expansion of its workforce at the Methil shipyard in Fife, Scotland. Since acquiring the yard in January last year, the company has increased the number of employees from 180 to 260 and is actively recruiting for an additional
110 positions. This includes 15 new apprenticeships, adding to the existing 54 apprentices at the site. The expansion is part of a broader investment strategy, with Navantia UK investing £26.7 million in the Methil yard as part of a £157 million investment across its UK facilities. The upgrades include new machinery and site improvements, aimed at enhancing the shipyard's capabilities. The Methil yard plays a crucial role in the construction of the Royal Navy's Fleet Solid Support (FSS) ships, which are essential for logistical support to the Carrier Strike Group.
