What's Happening?
Keysight Technologies has launched a new virtual process simulation solution called Keysight Assembly. This tool is designed to help manufacturers identify assembly issues early in the development process, before they become expensive production problems.
The solution allows engineers to replicate shop-floor processes such as part positioning, clamping, and joining through guided workflows and templates, without requiring specialized finite element modeling skills. By integrating with existing stamping simulation software, Keysight Assembly enables engineers to carry stamped-part data from forming through assembly, validating outcomes against pre-production scan data. This integration helps detect variations earlier and improves correlation between simulation and physical results, reducing reliance on trial-and-error approaches and shortening production timelines.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of Keysight Assembly is significant for the automotive and industrial manufacturing sectors, where late-stage assembly failures can lead to costly recalls and warranty claims. By identifying potential defects earlier in the development process, manufacturers can avoid delays in product launches and reduce the need for significant rework. This tool enhances the accuracy of builds and streamlines production timelines, potentially saving U.S. automakers billions in costs associated with defects that surface during the physical build stage. The ability to simulate real production workflows allows teams to make changes when they are easy and inexpensive, improving overall manufacturing efficiency.
What's Next?
Keysight Technologies plans to continue collaborating with automotive OEM partners to refine and expand the capabilities of the Keysight Assembly tool. As manufacturers adopt this solution, it is expected to lead to more efficient production processes and higher-quality products. The integration of simulation tools across different stages of manufacturing development may become a standard practice, encouraging other companies to invest in similar technologies to enhance their production capabilities.
