Peabody Energy has initiated a project to capture and recycle waste methane into electricity at its Centurion underground coal mine in Queensland, Australia. Partnering with Carbon Logica, Peabody has constructed
a 5-megawatt power station that converts mine waste gas into power, reducing reliance on the local grid. This initiative is part of Peabody's strategy to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, with the power station expected to capture 62,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
