James Stewart, a senior at Riverdale High School and a three-star defensive lineman, has announced his commitment to play football for the University of Arkansas. Stewart, who previously played for Blackman High School, made his decision public on June
8 via his X account. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 285 pounds, Stewart is ranked as the No. 35 player in Tennessee and the No. 89 defensive lineman nationally for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. His impressive high school career includes being named the Region 3-6A Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year and a first-team all-area performer. During his time at Blackman, he recorded 65 tackles, including 12 for loss, four sacks, and two forced fumbles, leading his team to a 12-win season and a Class 6A state semifinals appearance in 2025. Stewart had multiple offers from other universities, including Colorado, Boston College, Illinois, Maryland, Memphis, Tulane, Liberty, and MTSU, before choosing Arkansas.
