What's Happening?
The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has announced plans to expand the industrial land bank in the Indore region by developing a new industrial area at Mohana-1 in Indore district. This project will cover 27.30 hectares and is estimated to cost Rs 22.20 crore. The development aims to meet the increasing demand for industrial plots from manufacturing and allied sectors looking to establish units around Indore. MPIDC Indore region executive director, Himanshu Prajapati, highlighted the consistent demand for ready industrial land in the area. The Mohana-1 project will include essential infrastructure such as roads, drainage, water supply, and power connectivity, making it investment-ready. Additionally, MPIDC is developing new industrial areas
in Tilgara, Bhosola, and Lalbagh Basvi in Dhar district to further expand industrial capacity in the Indore–Dhar belt.
Why It's Important?
The development of the Mohana-1 industrial area is significant as it addresses the growing demand for industrial land in the Indore region, which is crucial for attracting new investments and supporting economic growth. By providing planned infrastructure, the project is expected to facilitate the establishment of small and medium manufacturing units, as well as ancillary industries linked to existing clusters in Pithampur and Indore. This expansion is likely to boost the local economy by creating job opportunities and enhancing the region's industrial capabilities. Improved connectivity and the availability of skilled manpower are additional factors driving industrial interest in the area.
