What's Happening?
Katie Fiso, a junior guard for the Oregon Ducks, has been invited to participate in the Team USA 3x3 development camp in Phoenix, Arizona, from May 6 to May 8, 2026. Fiso is one of nine players selected for this camp, which precedes the 2026 USA Basketball
3X Women’s Showcase in Mesa, Arizona. Known for her prowess in the 3-on-3 format, Fiso previously won a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U-18 World Cup. During the 2025-26 season, she led the Oregon Ducks with an average of 15.5 points per game and was named to the All-Big Ten Conference Second Team. Fiso's participation in the camp is seen as an opportunity to enhance her decision-making skills, particularly in reducing turnovers, which were the third-highest in the Big Ten last season.
Why It's Important?
Fiso's invitation to the Team USA 3x3 camp underscores her growing influence and skill in collegiate basketball, particularly in the 3-on-3 format. This opportunity not only highlights her individual achievements but also brings attention to the Oregon Ducks' basketball program. Participation in such prestigious camps can enhance a player's visibility and career prospects, potentially leading to professional opportunities. For the Ducks, having a player in the national spotlight can aid in recruiting efforts and elevate the program's status. Additionally, Fiso's development in decision-making and leadership could significantly benefit her team in future NCAA tournaments.
What's Next?
Following the development camp, Fiso will participate in the USA Basketball 3X Women’s Showcase from May 9 to May 10, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona. Her performance in these events could influence her future selections for national teams and professional opportunities. The Oregon Ducks will likely benefit from her enhanced skills and leadership in the upcoming NCAA season. Coach Kelly Graves will continue to build the team around Fiso's strengths, aiming for a deeper run in the NCAA tournament.
