What's Happening?
Vivobarefoot is launching its Tabi Gen 02 in-store scan-to-print footwear as part of its Vivobiome platform. This rollout, in partnership with digital printer manufacturer Carbon, uses Digital Light Synthesis
(DLS) technology to create personalized footwear. The initiative began in London and Bristol and will expand to the U.S. and other international locations. The scan-to-print system replaces traditional sizing with a personalized approach, capturing a 3D scan of the customer's feet to produce a unique product tailored to their shape and movement. This method reduces waste and shifts production from mass manufacturing to on-demand personal production.
Why It's Important?
This innovation in footwear manufacturing represents a significant shift towards sustainability and personalization in the industry. By reducing waste and eliminating the need for standard sizes, Vivobarefoot's approach could set a new standard for environmentally friendly production practices. The use of 3D printing technology allows for more efficient use of materials and could lead to cost savings in the long term. Additionally, the personalized nature of the product enhances customer satisfaction by providing a better fit and comfort, potentially increasing brand loyalty and market share for Vivobarefoot.
