The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) boys basketball playoffs are progressing into the quarterfinals this week. The playoffs, which began last Tuesday, feature seven classifications, each moving towards the semifinals by Saturday.
The Class 7A Starkville Yellowjackets, a top-ranked team, secured a decisive victory over the Lewisburg Patriots with a score of 64-20. Upcoming matches include the Yellowjackets facing the Tupelo Golden Wave on Thursday. Other notable teams include the Class 6A Ridgeland Titans, Class 5A Columbus Falcons, and Class 4A Leake Central Gators. A significant quarterfinal matchup in Class 5A will see Columbus competing against the Lanier Bulldogs. Additionally, Class 7A will feature a clash between the Germantown Mavericks and the DeSoto Central Jaguars.
