What's Happening?
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has opened order books for the battery-electric eArocs 400, marking its entry into the electric construction vehicle segment. The eArocs 400, which debuted at bauma Munich, will be produced at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein
starting in the third quarter of 2026. The truck features two lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs, offering a range of up to 240 kilometers in dump truck operation. It charges at up to 400 kW via a CCS2 interface, reaching 10 to 80 percent in approximately 46 minutes. The model is available in 37 and 44-tonne variants, suitable for dump body and concrete mixer applications.
Why It's Important?
The launch of the eArocs 400 represents a significant step towards sustainable construction practices. By introducing a battery-electric truck, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is addressing the demand for environmentally friendly solutions in the construction industry. This move supports the transition to low-emission zones and aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon footprints. The eArocs 400's energy efficiency and ability to operate in demanding environments make it a valuable addition to fleets looking to future-proof their operations. This development could influence other manufacturers to accelerate their electric vehicle offerings in the construction sector.
