What's Happening?
Reed Van Dyk's debut feature film, 'Atonement', premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, marking one of the few American entries this year. The film, inspired by a true story, is set during the early days of the Iraq War. It follows a U.S. Marine whose
split-second decision during a firefight leads to devastating consequences for an Iraqi family. Years later, the Marine, with the help of a New Yorker journalist, seeks reconciliation with the surviving family members. The film stars Kenneth Branagh, Hiam Abbass, Boyd Holbrook, and Gheed. Van Dyk was inspired by a New Yorker article written by Dexter Filkins, which he read 14 years ago. The film was produced by Van Dyk along with Trevor White, Tim White, David M. Wulf, and Steve Demmler, and is being sold at Cannes by CAA Media Finance, WME, and The Veterans.
