The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) announced significant expansions to its OpTIC Path workforce program at the Fiber Connect 2026 event in Orlando. This program addresses the growing demand for skilled
fiber optic technicians needed to support the rapid deployment of fiber networks across North America. With an estimated requirement for 180,000 additional technicians over the next decade, OpTIC Path offers a 144-hour, apprenticeship-aligned training program. The initiative is active in over 20 states, with plans to expand further. It has already graduated over 1,550 students, equipping them with essential skills in fiber installation and maintenance. The program also includes a new Data Center Technician Add-On Module, set to launch in Q3 2026, to meet the demands of the expanding data center industry.
