Nissan has introduced two new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) concepts, the Terrano and Urban SUV, at the Beijing auto show. The Terrano is a large off-road vehicle with a rugged design, while the Urban SUV is tailored for on-road use with a sleeker
appearance. Both models are expected to enter production in China within the next year. The Terrano revives a name previously used in the 1980s and 1990s for versions of the Nissan Pathfinder sold outside the U.S. It features a plug-in hybrid powertrain and is designed for all-terrain driving. The Urban SUV, also a PHEV, targets young Chinese consumers with its modern design. Nissan plans to unveil three more PHEV or electric models in China soon.
