What's Happening?
IOI Corporation Berhad has launched a new Pre-Employment Orientation (PEO) program to improve recruitment practices and safeguard workers' rights. Developed in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration and co-funded by Bunge, the program aims
to ensure zero recruitment costs and minimize human rights violations. The PEO training module covers areas such as mental preparedness, ethical recruitment practices, and financial literacy, supporting workers in adapting to their new environment. The initiative marks a significant step in strengthening responsible recruitment practices within the industry, with IOI being the first organization to incorporate an independent PEO module.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of IOI's PEO program highlights the company's commitment to ethical recruitment practices and worker protection. By addressing key areas such as mental preparedness and financial literacy, the program aims to empower workers and promote informed decision-making. This initiative sets a precedent for other organizations in the industry to prioritize responsible recruitment and safeguard workers' rights. As global attention on human rights and labor practices increases, IOI's efforts to enhance pre-employment practices reflect a broader trend towards ethical business operations and social responsibility.
