What's Happening?
The Batavia Farmers Market is set to open its mid-week market for the season, now located at South Riverwalk Plaza in front of Batavia City Hall. This market will operate on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. on select dates throughout June, July, and
August. The relocation aims to activate a new area of downtown Batavia and coincide with the River Rhapsody Concert Series. The market will feature 20 vendors offering fresh produce, farm-raised meats, cheeses, and ready-to-eat items. Special features on opening day include a 'build your own' gourmet salad bowl and a mystery marshmallow flavor. Shoppers can also enter a raffle to win Downtown Dollars, usable at local businesses.
Why It's Important?
The mid-week farmers market in Batavia provides a convenient option for residents to purchase fresh, local products outside of the traditional weekend market schedule. This initiative supports local farmers and vendors by offering them additional opportunities to reach consumers. The market's new location and timing are strategically planned to enhance community engagement and economic activity in downtown Batavia, particularly by aligning with popular local events like the River Rhapsody Concert Series. This could lead to increased foot traffic and sales for both the market vendors and surrounding businesses, fostering a vibrant local economy.
