What's Happening?
A new electric vehicle (EV) charging station has opened on Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa, California, as part of a partnership between Rove and Gelson’s Markets. The facility features 40 direct-current fast chargers, including Tesla V4 Superchargers
and ABB high-power chargers. It also includes a Gelson’s ReCharge micro-market offering fresh produce, hot food, and grocery essentials. The site provides amenities such as an indoor lounge with free Wi-Fi, restrooms, and nighttime security. This is the second collaboration between Rove and Gelson’s, following a similar station in Santa Ana. The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials, including 5th District County Supervisor Katrina Foley, who highlighted the station's role in promoting cleaner air and lower emissions in Orange County.
Why It's Important?
The new EV charging station in Costa Mesa is a significant step towards supporting the growing number of electric vehicles in Southern California. By providing fast, reliable charging options and convenient amenities, the facility makes it easier for drivers to transition to electric vehicles, contributing to reduced emissions and improved air quality. The partnership between Rove and Gelson’s also reflects a trend of integrating retail and service offerings with EV infrastructure, enhancing the user experience and encouraging more widespread adoption of electric vehicles. This development aligns with broader environmental goals and supports California's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
