What's Happening?
The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) has partnered with Korean production company Studio Dragon to launch the 'Bubble: Teen Romance Feature Co-Development Program.' This initiative aims to develop authentic Taiwanese love stories or transnational
Taiwan-Korea narratives. The selected projects will be co-developed by Taiwanese creative teams and experienced Korean producers, focusing on commercial works targeting international audiences. The collaboration is driven by the strong Asian box office performance of Taiwanese teen romance films and the growing popularity of 'Taiwan Sensibility' among Korean audiences.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration signifies a strategic move to leverage the cultural and commercial strengths of both Taiwan and Korea in the film industry. By targeting international audiences, the partnership aims to expand the reach of Taiwanese and Korean narratives, potentially increasing their influence in the global film market. The initiative could also foster cross-cultural understanding and appreciation, benefiting both countries' creative industries and enhancing their global cultural footprint.
What's Next?
The program will involve an open call for projects, with selected entries receiving co-development support. As the initiative progresses, it is expected to attract attention from international distributors and audiences, potentially leading to further collaborations between Taiwan and Korea in the entertainment sector.
