Honor, a China-based smart devices provider, and Valeo, a smart mobility specialist, have announced plans to expand their operations in Egypt, highlighting the country's strategic importance in the Middle Eastern and African ITC sectors. Honor is set
to establish its first overseas smartphone manufacturing facility in 10th of Ramadan City near Cairo, in collaboration with local company Etisal Trading. This facility, spanning 8,000 square meters, aims to produce three million units annually and is expected to officially launch by the end of 2026. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to position Egypt as a regional hub for mobile phone manufacturing, enhancing exports under the 'Made in Egypt' label and creating 1,000 jobs. Concurrently, Valeo is launching a new AI development center in Cairo, starting with over 50 engineers and planning to expand to over 100. This center will focus on integrating AI into Valeo's global operations and developing next-generation smart mobility software.
