What's Happening?
The Bay League is gearing up for the 2026 baseball season with a strong lineup of senior pitchers. Garrett Jacobs from Mira Costa, Robby Zimmerman from Redondo Union, and Kai Van Scoyoc from Palos Verdes
are among the standout players, each committed to prestigious universities. Jacobs, a UCLA commit, had an impressive junior season with an 11-1 record, 103 strikeouts, and only 13 walks in 70 innings. Zimmerman, a 6-foot-6 left-hander and a UCLA commit, is considered the best pro prospect due to his size and potential. Van Scoyoc, committed to USC, along with junior Jonah Cohen, also a UCLA commit, are expected to form a formidable duo for Palos Verdes. The league also features competitive teams from Torrance and West Torrance, with key players like Aiden Anaya and Joey Kim.
Why It's Important?
The presence of top-tier pitchers in the Bay League highlights the competitive nature of high school baseball in the region. These players not only elevate the level of play but also attract attention from college scouts and professional teams, potentially leading to future opportunities in higher levels of baseball. The league's ability to produce such talent underscores the importance of high school sports as a breeding ground for future athletes. Additionally, the success of these players can inspire younger athletes in the community, fostering a culture of excellence and dedication to the sport.
