What's Happening?
The Friends of the Marathon County Public Library are organizing a pop-up bag sale at the Wausau library on March 28, 2026. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 300 N. First St. in Wausau. Participants can fill a large paper bag with
books, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks for $6. The sale will be held in the library's basement, and no membership is required to participate. Proceeds from the sale will support programs and events at all nine Marathon County Public Library locations. The event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
Why It's Important?
This event highlights the community's commitment to supporting local libraries and making literature and media accessible to the public at an affordable price. By offering a wide range of items at a low cost, the sale encourages reading and media consumption among residents, fostering a culture of learning and entertainment. The proceeds will directly benefit library programs, enhancing educational and cultural offerings for the community. Such initiatives are vital for maintaining and expanding library services, especially in times of budget constraints and funding uncertainties.
