What's Happening?
The Cerus Quartet, an award-winning saxophone ensemble, is currently participating in The Sound Garden Project in Northern Michigan. This initiative, a collaboration between the Glen Arbor Arts Center and Interlochen Public Radio, aims to bring music
and community engagement to the region. The quartet, consisting of Roberto Campa, Laura Ramsay, Kyle Kato, and Samuel Dishon, performed live in IPR's Studio A and shared their experiences of connecting with audiences through music. Their residency will culminate in a concert at Glen Arbor Township Hall on June 19th, featuring works by Astor Piazzolla.
Why It's Important?
The Cerus Quartet's involvement in The Sound Garden Project highlights the role of music in fostering community connections and cultural enrichment. By performing in public spaces and engaging with local audiences, the quartet is helping to make classical music more accessible and relatable. This initiative also underscores the importance of arts collaborations in supporting regional cultural development and providing platforms for artists to reach new audiences.
