What's Happening?
Burton Snowboards and Circle Strings have announced a unique collaboration that merges the worlds of music and snow sports. The two companies have released a limited edition set that includes an orchestra model-style acoustic guitar, a solid-body electric
guitar, and a specially matched snowboard. This exclusive set is limited to just 13 editions, each priced at $20,000, and will be available for shipping worldwide before summer 2026. The collaboration marks a significant partnership between the two companies, with part of the snowboard production taking place outside of Burton's facilities for the first time. This allowed both teams to address technical challenges in blending materials used for guitar building with the structural requirements of a snowboard. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Divided Sky Foundation, a Vermont-based nonprofit co-founded by Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, which supports individuals in recovery through music and community.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration highlights the innovative potential of cross-industry partnerships, particularly between music and sports. By combining expertise from both fields, Burton and Circle Strings are not only creating a unique product but also supporting a charitable cause. The limited edition nature of the set and its high price point underscore its exclusivity and appeal to collectors and enthusiasts. Additionally, the involvement of the Divided Sky Foundation emphasizes the role of corporate social responsibility in modern business practices, as proceeds will aid in providing supportive environments for recovery through music. This initiative could inspire similar collaborations across industries, promoting creativity and social impact.
What's Next?
As the release date approaches, both companies are likely to engage in marketing efforts to attract potential buyers and collectors. The success of this collaboration could lead to future projects between Burton and Circle Strings or inspire other companies to explore similar partnerships. The impact on the Divided Sky Foundation will depend on the sales of the limited edition sets, potentially increasing its capacity to support individuals in recovery. Additionally, the collaboration may influence the design and production processes in both the music and snow sports industries, encouraging further innovation.
