Walmart and Alphabet's Wing have announced a significant expansion of their drone delivery partnership, extending the service to seven new metropolitan areas in the United States. This expansion will include Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix,
San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to establish a 270-location network, building on the success of over one million commercial deliveries already completed. Wing's drones, capable of flying at speeds up to 60 mph, use a tether system to deliver packages directly to customers' yards or driveways within 30 minutes. Customers will be able to access the service through Walmart's app or website, as well as the Wing app, expanding the service beyond its current markets in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Atlanta.
