Sandvik has received an order from Glencore to supply three DR413i rotary blasthole drill rigs for the reopening of the Bajo de la Alumbrera copper mine in Argentina. The order was finalized in the first quarter of 2026, with the first rig expected to arrive
in April and the remaining two by the end of the year. This initiative is part of Glencore's strategy to boost copper production to meet the increasing demand driven by the global energy transition. The mine is projected to produce approximately 73,000 tons of copper, along with gold and molybdenum, during its initial four-year period starting in 2028.
