What's Happening?
Robex Resources, a West African gold producer, has successfully completed the initial gold pour at its Kiniéro project in Guinea. This milestone was achieved on time and within budget, marking a significant
achievement for the company. The first on-site smelt produced a 2.64kg gold bar, following nearly five million hours of work without a lost-time injury. The construction of the Kiniéro plant began in July 2024 and was completed in 17 months. The plant's commissioning and ramp-up are progressing as planned, with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems operating to specification. Robex anticipates that the Kiniéro plant will reach its nameplate capacity by the first quarter of 2026. This project is Robex's sixth successful build in 15 years, all delivered on schedule and within budget.
Why It's Important?
The successful completion of the initial gold pour at Kiniéro is a major milestone for Robex Resources, reinforcing its reputation for delivering projects on time and within budget. This achievement not only enhances Robex's operational capacity but also strengthens its strategic position in West Africa. The project is expected to significantly boost the company's gold production capabilities, with Kiniéro and the Nampala mine in Mali projected to produce substantial annual outputs. Furthermore, the on-time delivery of Kiniéro supports Robex's proposed merger with Predictive Discovery, which aims to establish a major gold hub in West Africa. This merger could lead to an annual output of over 400,000 ounces by 2029, positioning the combined entity as a mid-tier gold producer in the region.
What's Next?
With Kiniéro now operational, Robex is focused on achieving full production capacity by early 2026. The company is also advancing its merger with Predictive Discovery, which will combine the Kiniéro and Bankan projects to create a significant gold mining hub in Guinea. This merger is expected to enhance Robex's production capabilities and resource base, targeting a consolidated resource of approximately 9.5 million ounces of gold. Additionally, Robex has secured an exclusive option to repurchase and eliminate the Mansounia royalties, contingent on certain conditions. These strategic moves are aimed at solidifying Robex's position as a leading gold producer in West Africa.
