What's Happening?
Coterie, a new Portuguese brand of contemporary boutique hotels, is set to debut with the opening of LENSCAPE Coterie in Porto in the first half of 2026. The hotel will feature 41 rooms initially, with plans to expand to 52. Designed by Christian Haas,
the hotel emphasizes refined aesthetics and a strong sense of place. The project includes a garden, spa, and an Italian restaurant led by Michelin-starred chef Vitor Matos. Coterie aims to create intimate, community-focused spaces that inspire creativity and exclusivity.
Why It's Important?
The launch of Coterie represents a significant addition to Portugal's luxury hospitality sector, catering to travelers seeking unique and personalized experiences. By focusing on aesthetics, design, and exclusivity, Coterie is positioning itself to attract a niche market of aesthetes and cultural enthusiasts. This approach aligns with global trends in boutique hospitality, where emphasis is placed on creating distinctive environments that offer more than just accommodation. The brand's debut in Porto, a city known for its rich cultural heritage, further enhances its appeal to international visitors.
