What's Happening?
The Central Wisconsin Children's Museum in Stevens Point is hosting a World Turtle Day celebration on May 23, featuring Squirt, the museum's resident painted turtle. The event, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
includes activities such as purchasing artwork created by Squirt, with proceeds supporting the museum's Wild Wisconsin exhibit. Attendees can also enjoy turtle-themed snacks, participate in craft activities, and receive handmade turtle plushies, donated by Holly's Hooks, available to the first 50 children. The event aims to engage families in educational and fun activities centered around turtles.
Why It's Important?
World Turtle Day at the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum provides an opportunity for families to engage with wildlife conservation and education in a hands-on manner. By featuring activities that highlight the behavior and habitat of turtles, the event fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation for these creatures among children and adults alike. The proceeds from the event support the museum's exhibits, ensuring continued educational opportunities for the community. This celebration not only raises awareness about turtle conservation but also strengthens community ties through shared learning experiences.
