What's Happening?
Paysafe, a global payments platform, has announced a strategic partnership with Spreedly, an open payments orchestration provider. This collaboration integrates Paysafe as an acquirer on Spreedly's platform, enabling the processing of credit and debit
card payments for online merchants across Europe, North America, and other global markets. Spreedly's platform, which connects to over 140 payment gateways and 40 payment methods, will now offer seamless online card payment processing. The partnership leverages Paysafe's extensive experience in supporting high-volume industries such as forex, financial trading, iGaming, eCommerce, and hospitality. The initial phase focuses on card payments, with plans to expand to alternative payment methods like Skrill and Neteller.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is significant for the global payments industry, as it enhances the capabilities of Spreedly's Open Payment Platform, offering merchants greater flexibility and efficiency in processing transactions. By integrating Paysafe's expertise, the platform can better serve industries with high transaction volumes, potentially increasing merchant adoption and customer satisfaction. The collaboration also reflects a broader trend towards open payments, which aim to provide merchants with more options and improved outcomes. For U.S. businesses, this development could lead to more competitive payment processing solutions, fostering innovation and growth in the digital commerce sector.
What's Next?
The partnership is already operational, with Paysafe processing payments for several online trading brokers and financial services companies. Additional merchants are expected to join the platform by the end of 2026. As the partnership evolves, Spreedly plans to integrate more of Paysafe's alternative payment methods, further enhancing the platform's offerings. This expansion could attract a wider range of merchants seeking comprehensive payment solutions. The collaboration may also prompt other payment providers to explore similar partnerships, driving further innovation and competition in the payments industry.
