What's Happening?
The Alabama Department of Insurance (ALDOI) has appointed Stephanie Tompkins as the new manager of its Consumer Services Division. Tompkins succeeds Dusty Smith, who has been promoted to deputy commissioner for insurance regulation. With 25 years of experience
in the insurance industry, Tompkins has served as the education and outreach coordinator and consumer service specialist at ALDOI for the past decade. Her previous roles include senior underwriter at Associated Insurance Administrators. Tompkins holds a master's degree in management and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Auburn University at Montgomery.
Why It's Important?
Tompkins' appointment is significant for the ALDOI as it continues to enhance its consumer services and regulatory functions. Her extensive experience in both the insurance business and regulatory sectors positions her well to lead the division in addressing consumer concerns and improving service delivery. This leadership change is crucial for maintaining public trust and ensuring that the department effectively manages consumer issues in the insurance market. Tompkins' background in education and outreach also suggests a potential focus on increasing consumer awareness and understanding of insurance products and regulations.
