What's Happening?
Xenom, a new stadium-scale competition series, aims to revolutionize the CrossFit community by offering a standardized, accessible format for athletes worldwide. Founded by Keith Barlow, Xenom is described as 'the decathlon of fitness,' featuring 10 fixed
events over two days that test strength, gymnastics, and endurance. The competition is backed by significant investment, including support from media veteran Jeffrey Katzenberg and equipment partner Rogue Fitness. Xenom is the first official global event series licensed by CrossFit, offering a unique scoring system where athletes earn points based on their performance relative to a benchmark 'elite' score. This allows for global comparison of fitness levels through the Elite Performance Index (EPI).
Why It's Important?
Xenom's introduction is significant as it provides a new platform for CrossFit athletes to compete on a global scale, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility. By offering a standardized format, Xenom allows athletes of varying skill levels to participate and compare their performance internationally. This could lead to increased participation in CrossFit, fostering a more connected and competitive community. The unique scoring system also provides a clear benchmark for athletes to track their progress, potentially driving innovation and growth within the fitness industry. Additionally, the involvement of high-profile investors and partners underscores the commercial potential of such events.
What's Next?
The inaugural Xenom event is scheduled for June 27-28, 2026, at the Dallas Cowboys’ training complex in Frisco, Texas, with future events planned in London, Miami, and Paris. The competition will host around 2,000 athletes, with a ballot currently open for the Dallas event offering 250 free entry spots. As the series progresses, it is expected to attract a diverse range of participants, potentially leading to further expansion and the establishment of Xenom as a key player in the global fitness competition landscape.
