What's Happening?
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has introduced a new funding initiative under the TechAccess: AI-Ready America program, aimed at expanding access to artificial intelligence (AI) skills, tools, and training across all U.S. states and territories.
This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the nation's AI capabilities and the practical application of these technologies by workers, businesses, and communities. The NSF, in collaboration with federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Labor and the Small Business Administration, plans to establish up to 56 AI-focused Coordination Hubs. These hubs will serve as regional connectors, facilitating collaboration among employers, educators, and public sector organizations to support AI adoption based on local needs. Each hub will receive up to $1 million annually over three years, with a potential extension if demand persists.

What's Next?
The NSF plans to expand the program through additional funding rounds, including Catalyst awards to test new models and a national coordination lead to support collaboration between hubs. Letters of intent for the Coordination Hub funding are due by June 16, with full proposals required by July 16. An informational webinar is scheduled for April 14 to provide further details. As the program progresses, it is expected to foster greater collaboration among stakeholders and drive the integration of AI technologies across various sectors.
