What's Happening?
Acceso Latino, a program of the Carlos Slim Foundation, is hosting a free two-day youth basketball clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, in collaboration with Boys and Girls Clubs of the Valley and other partners.
The event, scheduled for May 2 and 3, is open to youth aged 8 to 17 and aims to promote sportsmanship and community engagement. The clinic will also offer digital literacy and social service workshops for parents, emphasizing a holistic approach to community development.
Why It's Important?
This initiative highlights the role of sports in community building and youth development. By providing free access to sports training and educational resources, the event supports the physical and social growth of young participants. It also addresses broader community needs by offering parents access to valuable resources, thereby strengthening family and community ties. Such programs can have lasting impacts on participants, fostering leadership skills and promoting healthy lifestyles.
