Nithin Aruswamy, a senior at Dublin High School, has co-founded an agritech startup named Terran, which aims to enhance the yield and profitability of small-scale farming through an automated hydroponics system. This system is designed to address challenges such as the rising costs of small-scale farming, including water prices and soil degradation. Terran's hydroponics setup allows farmers to grow three times more produce without needing additional farmland. The system uses biofertilizers with micro-organisms applied via robotics that monitor crop growth with sensors. Although not yet implemented on farms, Terran has gained national recognition, placing second in the 2024 Zuora Climate Action Challenge and being named a 2025 Genius Finalist
of the GENIUS Olympiad.
